Agnes Halvorson

Agnes Joan Halvorson, 83, of Tripp, SD, died Tuesday, February 6, 2024 at Good Samaritan Society – Corsica.

 A memorial service will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, February 17 at Emmaus Lutheran Church in Tripp with Rev. Brian Lemcke officiating. Visitation begins at 9:30 a.m. at the church. Inurnment will be held at a later date in Zion Lutheran Cemetery, rural Tripp.

Agnes was born September 15, 1940 to Martin and Henrietta (Deboer) Vanderplaats in Pipestone County, Minnesota. She graduated from Bejou, Minnesota High School. Agnes married Herman Halvorson January of 1962 in Twin Valley, MN. They raised three children, Todd, Timmy and Tami Jo.

Agnes became an LPN and went on the become an RN. She worked in nursing homes her entire career. She was employed at Tripp Good Samaritan Society for over 30 years. She also worked at other area Good Samaritan Centers on a periodic basis.

Agnes loved to collect all kinds of angels. She also had an impressive spoon collection from the places she visited and then had her son, Todd, send spoons from his military travels.

Agnes was a very loving, caring woman, which was reflected in her work history with the elderly. She very much enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, later in life.

Agnes is survived by son, Todd (Kelly) Halvorson; son-in-law, Brian Meisenhoelder; grandchildren, Joshua, James and Jarred Halvorson and Joshua, Kala and Kara Meisenholder; 11 great-grandchildren and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

She is preceded in death by her father and mother, Martin and Henrietta; son, Timmy Dean Halvorson in 1980; husband, Herman Halvorson in 1986 and daughter, Tami Jo Meisenhoelder in 2020.
