Arnold "Arne" KocourekCLERGY
Rev. Laurie Kidd
Arnold L Kocourek was born April 23, 1952 in Yankton, South Dakota. His parents were Louis and Renae (Braun) Kocourek. He attended school in Scotland, SD, graduating in 1970. He married Marie Wampol on December 11, 1992 in Yankton. He worked for Frank Pillar of Scotland, Ben Hur Ford in Sioux Falls, Truck Trailer in Yankton, Frick Trucking in Yankton, and Wilson Trailer Company in Yankton. He was a diesel mechanic by trade. He died peacefully at home on April 15, 2017, at the age of 64.
Arne began playing golf at the age of 6, and loved the game. His sisters jokingly referred to him as “Arne Palmer”. He also enjoyed camping and fishing. Arne had many collections, such as lighted beer signs, Allis Chalmers tractors, caps, and music of old country artists; therefore, he could often be found looking for a great find at an auction or rummage sale. Arne was known well for his infectious laugh, and was always good for a story or a joke. He was also willing to lend a hand, or an ear, to others.
Surviving are his loving wife and soulmate, Marie; step-children, Ken Selvia, Yankton, Tammi and Roger Adam, Yankton, Rochelle and Dustin Larsen, Yankton, and Charesh and Michael Lewin, Merrill, Iowa; grandchildren, Halie and Marcus Adam, Yankton; two loving sisters, Rhonda Lupton, Sioux Falls, and Patty and Paul Schmitt, Sioux Falls; an uncle, Ken and Anne Ulmer, Hartley, IA; numerous nephews and nieces; and many cousins. He was preceded in death by his loving parents and numerous uncles and aunts.

Arnie was one of the kids down in the Southwest corner of Scotland near the present day gold course. We had a great bunch that played outside constantly and Arnie was one of the older kids. I really liked playing with him on our touch football team in the back of the Losing's house. He was quick. He also used to play outside basketball up at the high school during the summer. I hadn't seen Arnie in many years, having lived outside SD until recently. My sincere condolences, as his premature death has brought back memories of my childhood. God Bless you, Arnie.

Uncle Arne you are our mothers' brother and the best uncle. You will always be with us. Our friends and family please burn a candle in our uncle's memory until after the funeral. If you have a battery operated candle that is sufficient. God bless.
