Bonnie Delia Losing

January 8, 1926 — January 25, 2020

Bonnie Delia (Colwell) Losing was born Sunday, August 1, 1926 at Scotland, South Dakota on a rural farm to Lloyd and Mabel Colwell. Bonnie graduated from the eighth grade at Plattner School south of Scotland. After graduation she worked for many different people cleaning houses and working as a waitress at Scotland Cafe.
Bonnie married the love of her life Leo Losing, April 20, 1947 at the United Methodist Church in Scotland. Bonnie was a member of this church until the recent closing. Bonnie then became a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Scotland.
Bonnie and Leo were custodians at the grade and high school in Scotland. Later they bought the Sportsman Café on main street. After a year, they sold and moved to Vermillion where they managed an apartment complex for ten years. They then retired and moved to Brookings, South Dakota. Leo passed away in 1996. Bonnie then moved back to Scotland to be near family and friends.
Bonnie was a hard worker. She always had a smile for everyone. She was an outgoing person and enjoyed meeting people and visiting with them. She enjoyed doing puzzles, crocheting, Saturday morning coffee hour and playing cards with her friends. In the summer time she would sit outside and watch birds. She was involved in many activities, the United Methodist Women of the Methodist Church, civic club and the Zion Lutheran Church Women. Bonnie passed away Saturday, January 25, 2020 attaining the age of 93 years, five months and 25 days.
Bonnie is survived by her children Diann (Darryl) Suess of Winner, SD, Leonard (Romane) Losing of Seven Valleys, PA, Don Losing of Maryville, TN; grandchildren Darrin Suess, Dustin (Tisha) Suess, Shawn (Amber) Losing, Danielle Snyder; great grandchildren Abby (Mütt) Malou, Alec and Jaden Suess, Macie and Meridith Suess, Brinly and Blake Losing, Fayth and Christian Snyder; great great grandchildren Braxton Suess, Remington Suess; sister Ruby Fischer; sister-in-law Arlene Colwell; several nieces and nephews and many great nieces and nephews.
Bonnie was preceded in death by her husband Leo Losing; her parents Lloyd and Mabel Colwell; Leo’s parents Konrad and Paulina Losing; brother Floyd Colwell; sister Beulah Petzoldt; brothers-in-law Herman Petzoldt, Helmuth Fischer and great niece Nicole Sayler.
