Carol Neugebauer

Carol Neugebauer, 85 passed away Tuesday, September 30, 2025 at her home in Tripp. A funeral service will be held 10:30 a.m. Thursday, October 9 at Emmaus Lutheran Church in Tripp.

Carol (Hoff) Neugebauer was born in Tripp, SD on October 29, 1939 to Roonie and Beatha (Guthmiller) Hoff. She was baptized by Rev. E.G. Pfeiffer on November 26, 1939 at Bethal Reformed Church of Tripp, then confirmed on April 11, 1954 by the Rev. Theophil Blaufuss. She became a member of Immanuel Reformed Church 9 miles south of Tripp and later at Friedens Reformed Church in Tripp. On December 15, 1957 she married Delbert L. Neugebauer at Friedens Reformed Church with Rev. Theophil Blaufuss performing the wedding. In 1958 she became a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, 8 miles west of Dimock and in October 1961 she and Delbert became members of Emmaus Lutheran Church in Tripp, SD.

Together they farmed 11 miles northwest of Parkston until October 1959 and then 14 miles northeast of Tripp until 1983. Carol then raised hogs until 1993. She refinished furniture at the farm. Working with wood was always her pride and joy. She always loved to garden, mow lawns and kept her yard looking nice along with doing repairs around her home. Her husband Delbert passed away on September 24, 1995. She then moved to Tripp. On January 1, 1996 she became janitor of Emmaus, cleaning the church, mowing the church lawn and in 2002 she started mowing the church cemetery SW of Tripp. In October 1996 she joined the staff at the Tripp Good Samaritan Center in the housekeeping department for 11½ years and then the dietary department for 4 years. She retired on March 14, 2012.

Delbert and Carol were blessed with five children: Randy and Teresa Neugebauer of Canistota, Renee and Dana Horn of Tripp, Rhonda Thuringer of Tripp, Russell Neugebauer of Tripp and Ryan and Nicole Neugebauer of Armour; friend and caretaker, Sarah Neugebauer of Parkston; ten grandchildren: Daniel (Amanda) Neugebauer, Darrick (Christine) Neugebauer, April Burbach, Jennifer (Dustin) Will, Jessica (Luke) Hauert, Dustin Thuringer, Kayla Neugebauer, Cole Neugebauer, Paige Neugebauer, Hope Neugebauer; great-grandchildren: Darby, Leah, Elle, Elliott, Owen, Miles, Grayson, Elise, Evelyn, Jude, Will and Beckett.

Carol is preceded in death by her parents, Roonie and Beatha Hoff; grandparents, Henry J. and Lydia Hoff; grandparents, John L and Christina Guthmiller; granddaughter, Jenna Horn (1984), husband, Delbert (1995), and daughter, Rhonda Thuringer (2005).
