Dixie Ann Foss

Dixie Ann Foss, age 69, passed away peacefully in her home on May 13, 2024 surrounded by her loved ones.

A memorial service will be held 3 p.m. on Saturday, May 18 at Goglin Funeral Home in Yankton, SD. A celebration of life will follow at The Boat House in downtown Yankton, beginning at 4 p.m. In lieu of flowers please consider donating to the Heartland Humane Society or Light Shine Canine Rez Dog Rescue in her honor. 

Dixie was born December 7, 1954 in Parkston, SD. to William and Orpha Bush. She grew up on a farm north of Menno and graduated from Menno High School. Her early adult life was spent traveling the world, nannying in NYC, and working on her cooking and baking skills. 

Her two children, Jill and Paul were the light of her life. She delighted in the years she spent as a stay-at-home mom and homemaker. Dixie collected many friends at her various jobs around Yankton. She adored her Shur-Co family and retired from there in 2023 after nearly two decades of service. 

Dixie found happiness baking and cooking for her friends and family. Her specialty desserts were loved by many. Her proudest baking moment was her son's wedding cake in 2021. When she wasn't busy baking, Dixie could be found gardening, enjoying the sunshine, and spending time with her children and grand dogs. Dixie will be remembered as a loving mother and a caring friend.

She is survived by her daughter, Jill of St. Paul; her son, Paul and his wife, Madeline of Sioux Falls; her brother, Victor (Donna) of Olivet, and her sister, Stephanie (Paul) of Prescott, AZ.  She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Orpha, and her corgi, Buzz. 

Her smile, baking, and company will be forever missed by her family and friends.
