Donna Valle Muhmel, 92, died Friday, September 19, 2025 at the Community Pride Care Center in Battle Creek, Nebraska. Donna’s funeral will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 24 at Fellowship Baptist Church in Scotland, SD. Interment will be at Rosehill Cemetery.
Donna was born September 15, 1933 to Lowell and Laura (Haase) Hess in Scotland, SD. She attended Schatz rural school and graduated from Scotland High School. She attended Southern State Teachers College where she received her teaching degree. Her first teaching job was at the Maxwell Hutterite Colony. She went on to teach at Ochsner rural school and in the Scotland School system.
She married Floyd Muhmel February 8, 1955. She continued teaching and was also a full-time farm wife on their dairy farm. Donna enjoyed working in her yard, baking and always had the coffee pot on. She sang in various vocal groups but enjoyed singing the most with her dad at church functions, funerals, weddings and anniversary gatherings.
Donna was an active member of the United Methodist Church and after its closing, the Baptist church. She was a member of the hospital auxiliary, civic club, Red Hats, VFW and the Community Choir.
She is survived by her children, Laurie Wiemers of Battle Creek, Ne and Brad Muhmel (Daniel Rodriguez) of Houston, TX; grandchildren, Ashley Beck (Travis), Alexandria Wiemers (Dalton Bergstrom), Taylor Wiemers (Alex Tucker), Stratton Muhmel (Caroline) and Brenton Muhmel (Robin); great-grandchildren, Paityn Phillips, Sage Beck and Dawson Muhmel and brother, James (Karen) Hess.
Donna is preceded in death by her husband, Floyd Muhmel; parents, Lowell and Laura Hess; brother, John Hess and son-in-law, Jeff Wiemers.
