Duane was baptized and confirmed in the Congregational faith in rural churches near Kaylor and Parkston, SD. He was a member of the SD Angus Association, the American Angus Association, Rotary Club, a founding member of the Kaylor 4-H Club and actively involved with many church boards and committees, as well as community and business projects.
As a father and grandfather, he loved being involved with his sons and grandchildren, whether it was working with them on the farm or cheering them on at all their school and sports events and then blessed to get to do it all over again with some of his great-grandchildren.
