Dwain Dale Swenson, age 78, passed away peacefully, Saturday, September 20, 2025 at Oakview Terrace in Freeman, with family by his side, after a long battle with dementia.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, October 4, 2025 at Goglin Funeral Home in Yankton. Inurnment will be at the Yankton City Cemetery.
Dwain was born January 10, 1947 to Walter and Lilas (Hartsworm) Swenson in Canby, Minnesota. He married Linda Lou Sonnabend November 30, 1968 in Butterfield, MN. Together they raised three children, Lynnette, Michal and Michelle. Dwain worked 20+ years in maintenance for the Yankton School District. Once retired he and Linda became snowbirds, spending their winters in Bullhead City, Arizona for several years. Dwain enjoyed camping, fishing, spending time with friends and family, watching Denver Broncos football and going for drives. He was known to have a sweet tooth and especially loved ice cream.
Dwain is survived by his children, Lynnette (Robert) Santiago, Michal (Laura) Swenson and Michelle (Dan) Larsen; grandchildren, Brandon Swenson, Whitley Walker, Mathew Santiago, Andrew Swenson, Dalton Swenson, Trinity Swenson and Charlotte Larsen; numerous great-grandchildren, Gabe Rock, Dominick Swenson, Adalynn Swenson, Maddox Swenson, Oliver Swenson and Cassidy Santiago in addition to his sister, Shirley (Gary) Nelson.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Linda; father, Walter and mother, Lilas; brothers, Darold Swenson, Dean Swenson, Danny Swenson and Bruce Swenson.
