Emma Agnes Kocmick

Emma Agnes Sedlacek was born on a farm three miles southwest of Tabor, SD, on Dec. 29, 1925, to Adolph and Christina (Kozel) Sedlacek. She was baptized at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in 1926 and married there on Jan. 27, 1948, to James E. Kocmick. Her graduation was in May 1943 from Tabor High School.
Emma and Jim farmed near Dante and then Wagner, SD, until his death in Nov. of 1957. In 1959, she and her girls moved to Tabor to live with her dad and brother after her mother’s death. Emma moved to Omaha in 1969 and worked at Omaha Bedding until her retirement in 1990 when she moved to Tyndall. In October of 2012, she moved to Bellevue, NE. This Feb. she moved to the Good Samaritan Society in Tyndall, So. Dak. After 92 years of age, Emma passed away there on Thursday, May 3, 2018. She was a dedicated mom and wonderful person.
Thankful for having shared their lives with their mother are her six daughters: Karen (Ed) Fejfar, Yankton, SD; Becky (Elmer) Herman, Springfield, NE; Emily Kocmick, Bellevue, NE; Mary Lee Cowie, Ralston, NE; Terri Koziol, Bellevue, NE and Chris Potter, Underwood, IA. Emma is also survived by nine loving grandchildren: Leisa (Tom) Futo, Lincoln, NE; Jeff (Melissa) Herman, Phoenix, AZ; Sharee (Matt) Jedlicka, Columbus, NE; Tara (Mark) Frank, Yankton, SD; Pascha (Jack) Conley, Omaha, NE; Elizabeth Koziol (Chris Ellis), Omaha, NE; Alan (Christie) Koziol, Omaha, NE; Kevin Cowie, York, PA; and Christopher Cowie, Sacramento, CA. Emma has 14 great grandchildren: Nathan Kocmick, Omaha, NE; Matt (Kaylee) Herman, Bremerton, WA; Jason Herman, Bremerton, WA; Coleman & Savannah Frank; Anika Futo; Bohden & Callen Jedlicka; Landon Washington & Xavier Mack; Caiden & Aubrey Cowie; Kiera & Collin Koziol and one great-great grandchild, Michael Herman; sister, Alice Weibel, Bellevue, NE and brother, Tom “bro-son”, (Julie) Sedlacek, Sr., Tabor, SD; Kocmick in-laws: Sylvia Meiers, Avon, SD and Earl Schumacher, Monticello, MN.

Emma was preceded in death by her husband, Jim; her parents; sisters and brothers-in-law: Mary (infant 1925); Marcella & Bob Cwach, Marie & Leland Sorensen, Aelred Weibel; sister-in-law; Kathy (Haberman) Sedlacek; also, in-laws: parents-John & Mary (Placek) Kocmick; Willie Kocmick (infant 1921), Violet (Kocmick) & Clarence Jenison, Lauren Meiers, Bob & Elizabeth “Joan” (Ruhl) Kocmick, Janis (Kocmick Mann) Schumacher and Charles Mann, Sr.
