Harlan Duane Latimer was born January 25, 1954 to Clarence and Evelyn (Cihlar) Latimer in Sutherland, Nebraska. He died peacefully in his sleep, at home in Yankton, SD, January 18, 2023, with family around him. He was 68 years old, just one week shy of turning 69.
Harlan grew up and helped on the family farm in North Platte, Nebraska. Following graduation from North Platte High School, the family moved to Verdigre, Nebraska. He moved to Yankton to attend Mount Marty College, where he graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration and Accounting. He stayed in Yankton afterward to live and work. He was involved with the South Dakota Auto Body Association in his early career. Trucking and welding became his working life, for many decades.
Harlan married Diane (Schotanus) Latimer on August 19, 1978 at Emmanuel Reformed Church in Springfield, South Dakota. Years later, to this union was born one daughter Nichole Latimer.
Harlan was an avid hunter. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and grilling his catches for family and friends. He was able to make many big game hunting trips in South Dakota, Montana, and Alaska. He also enjoyed reloading ammunition for family and friends.
Harlan is survived by his wife of 44 years, Diane Latimer of Yankton, SD and daughter, Nichole Latimer of New York.
He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.
The family requests no flowers or gifts.
A private family graveside service will be held at a later date.
