Jean Salvatori

Jean Marie (Cash) Salvatori, 85, of Lincoln, Nebraska—formerly of Yankton, South Dakota, and Wynot, Nebraska—passed away peacefully on December 30, 2025, at Bickford Assisted Living in Lincoln.

Jean was born on January 25, 1940, in Bow Valley, Nebraska, to John “Jack” W. Cash and Mary S. (Thoene) Cash. She grew up in the area and graduated from Wynot High School in 1958.

On September 16, 1958, Jean married Raymond William Salvatori. Together, they made their home in Yankton, Bellevue, and Wynot before returning to Yankton. In 1990, Ray and Jean purchased a lot and decided to build a home east of Yankton. Their son Tim designed the home, and the entire family assisted in building the sturdy ranch-style house. They enjoyed many happy years there until Ray’s death in 2015. Jean continued living east of Yankton until she moved into Walnut Village Assisted Living in 2022.

While at Walnut Village, Jean continued to enjoy putting puzzles together, gardening, getting her hair done, participating in social activities, and visiting almost daily with her sister, Pearl Potts. Walnut Village took very good care of Jean, and for this the family is forever indebted. As Jean’s health declined, she was moved closer to her sons in Lincoln, Nebraska, during the final months of her life.

Jean made her last home on earth at Bickford Assisted Living, where she was tenderly cared for by the hospice team and the staff. For this, the family is deeply grateful. Some staff members shared through tears on the day Jean passed that she was their favorite resident. It was evident that even in a short time, she made a lasting impact on those who cared for her.

Jean was a hard worker who prided herself on a job well done. She was a stay-at-home mother to three young boys and also took on part-time, at-home employment with a hair accessory company. Her sons fondly recall helping package items, which taught them the value of a strong work ethic at a young age. Jean used the extra income to create fun family experiences. Later, as the boys grew older, she worked at several local businesses, including Gurney’s Seed & Nursery, the Yankton Inn, and Hastings Manufacturing—sometimes alongside her sons and future daughters-in-law.

After retiring, Ray and Jean agreed to babysit part-time for their son Tim’s daughters. The special bonds formed between the girls and their grandparents will always be cherished and never forgotten.

Jean enjoyed many hobbies, including latch hook, embroidery, cross-stitch, paint-by-number projects, gardening, puzzles, and word-find books. She was active in her church community and volunteered many hours at Sacred Heart Church in Wynot and later in Yankton. She also volunteered with the SAC Pack program during the school year, packing lunches for children to take home after school, and helped serve noon meals during the summer program.

A funeral service will be held on January 10, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church in Wynot, Nebraska. Visitation will begin at 8:30 a.m., with a Rosary at 9:30 a.m. Burial will follow at the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Wynot, with a meal served in the social hall next to the church.

Jean is survived by her children: Kevin Salvatori, Tim (Jodi Lange) Salvatori, and Dennis (Marcia Kathol) Cash. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Annie Salvatori, Samantha Salvatori, Joselyn Salvatori, Danielle Salvatori, Carissa Salvatori, Jordynn Salvatori, and Aiden Cash. She is further survived by her sister, Pearl (Cash) Ron Potts, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and in-laws.

Jean was preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Mary Cash; her husband, Raymond Salvatori; her siblings, Gerald Cash, Clifford Cash, Cyril Cash, and her twin sister Joyce Cash; her son, Daniel W. Salvatori; her daughter-in-law, Lori (Moser) Salvatori; and her grandson, Ryan Salvatori.

Jean will be remembered for her deep love for her children, grandchildren, family, and friends.
