John Allen Benson

John Allen Benson, 48, of Yankton, South Dakota, passed away on Friday, March 16, 2018 peacefully at his home, surrounded by family and friends, after a hard fought battle with cancer.
John was born on April 21, 1969 to Erling and Mary Anderson in Yankton, South. He grew up in Yankton and attended Yankton Public Schools. He worked various manufacturing jobs throughout his life until eventually starting his own carpentry business.  He really had a natural knack for building things and took so much pride in what he loved.
John is survived by the love of his life and caretaker, Carmen Bodden of Yankton; his 3 children: Raychel Schurman of Crofton, NE, Caylor Benson of Sioux Falls, SD, and Makayla Travnicek of Sioux Falls, SD; brothers: Michael (Jen) Anderson of Norfolk, NE, Philip (Angel) Benson, Aaron (Sara) Anderson, Daniel (Bridget) Benson all of Yankton SD; and many aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces and cousins.
