John Joseph Benson

On Saturday, July 23, 2022, John Joseph Benson passed away at the age of 30. 

Memorial services will be held at Goglin Funeral Home in Yankton on Saturday, July 30 from 1-3 PM.

John was born on July 19, 1992 in Yankton, SD to Mike Benson and Mary (Farrel) Mallory. He grew up in Yankton, South Dakota before moving to Fargo, ND and most recently, Sioux Falls. A born comic, he brought love and laughter to everyone who met him. John was a giver---of his time, of his talents and of his kindness. He held nothing back when someone he loved was in need, especially when the need was a slightly irreverent joke to bring a smile when it was needed most. Children were drawn to him as a kindred spirit—someone who loved freely, cared deeply and looked at the world through the lens of one truly “young at heart.” A beloved son, brother and uncle, he will now forever be young in our hearts.

John is survived by his parents, Mike Benson and Mary Mallory; his brothers, Eric and Nathan Benson; his nieces, Morgan and Evie and many cousins, aunts and uncles.
