Josephine Margret Jensen was born near Union, Montana to Albert Jensen and Mildred Rusch August 17, 1934. The Rusch family moved and lived near Chicago for several years. While Josephine was still a child, the Rusch family moved to the Delmont area where she attended grade school and high school. Josephine furthered her education while attending college in Springfield, obtaining a teaching degree. While teaching during the day, Josephine went to night school and earned a master’s degree in education.
Josephine was united in marriage to Alfred Buchholz December 24, 1953. Josephine and Alfred enjoyed 42 years of marriage, until his death in 1999. They were the proud parents of one son, Loren Buchholz.
She enjoyed teaching very much and also enjoyed farming in the Avon area.
Josephine married Leonard Novak July 10, 2002 in Rapid City. Josephine and Leonard made their home in Rapid City during their 15 years of marriage. When Leonard passed away, Josephine moved back to Tripp, S.D.
Josephine passed away Thursday, May 21, 2020 at St. Benedict Hospital in Parkston at the age of 85.
Josephine is survived by her son Loren and wife Marlene; two grandsons, Matthew Buchholz and Angie Miiller, Jason and Ashlie Buchholz; three great granddaughters, Jordan, Dylan and Alexa; two great grandsons Gavin and Brody; five stepchildren Kathleen (Jim) Hornstra, Arleen (Mark) Willoughby, John and (Maureen) Novak, Gerald and Kristie (Krier); Tom and Helen (Massey); five siblings, David Jensen and wife Avis, Robert and his wife Carol (deceased), Leona and husband Bob Dunne (deceased), Alvin and Marsha Forest.
She also has 11 step grandchildren, 17 step great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
We thank God for the blessing of being part of her life.
