June Carolyn Weidenbach, 79, passed away peacefully at Scotland Good Samaritan Center on January 18, 2026. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, January 24 at Scotland Community Church, with visitation an hour before the service. Burial will take place at a later date.

June was born on June 14, 1946, in Seattle, Washington, to Lenard and Alma (Lloyd) Jung. She accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior during her teenage years and continued her faith journey throughout her life. Jesus was her unwavering foundation, supporting her through both joyful and challenging times. She graduated from Chief Sealth High School in Seattle in 1964 and attended Seattle Pacific. In 1966, June moved to Anchorage, Alaska, where she lived until 2001. She married Jay Weidenbach on December 15, 1979.

June spent her years in Alaska pursuing a variety of roles, such as commercial fishing, working as an office administrator, serving as assistant treasurer for two gubernatorial campaigns, acting as a church secretary, and volunteering as a leader with Bible Study Fellowship. She raised her children there and formed close friendships that became like family. One of her proudest accomplishments was becoming a living kidney donor on April 12, 2001. That June, she and Jay relocated to Scotland, South Dakota, to be nearer to Jay’s aging parents. In Scotland, June worked as a librarian and as an office manager for Northwestern Energy, cared for her in-laws and grandchildren, and enjoyed gardening and canning with her family. She was also active as a Landmann-Jungmann Memorial Hospital auxiliary member, a hospice volunteer, served as treasurer for Scotland Area Food Pantry and was a member of Friends of Good Samaritan.

June attended lady’s Bible study every Tuesday and was a member of Red Hats and PEO. She actively participated in Scotland Community Church, serving on the mission committee, singing in the choir, and attending regularly until her health declined. June also sang with the Scotland community choir for many years.

She is survived by her husband of 46 years, Jay Weidenbach of Scotland, SD; her children, Carole (Ron) Hamman of Wasilla, Alaska, Rebecca (Taylor Marion) Jirik of Winston-Salem, North Carolina and Jalynne (James) Streyle of Scotland, South Dakota; 15 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; her brother, Jim (Gail) Jung of Kirkland, Washington; sister-in-law, JoAnn Jung of Lake Stevens, Washington; sister-in-law and husband, Janice (Robert) Rada of rural Scotland, SD; brother-in-law, Joel (Rebecca) Weidenbach of Canistota, SD, as well as a number of beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins.

June was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Loren Jung and her parents-in-law, Henry and Gladys Weidenbach.
