Lorraine Rose Gall

March 4, 1939 — July 27, 2022

Lorraine Rose (Fuchs) Gall, age 83, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 27, 2022, at Bormann Manor in Parkston, SD.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., with Rosary at 7:00, Sunday, July 31 at Goglin Funeral Home in Tripp, SD.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, August 1, 2022, at St. Leo’s Catholic Church in Tyndall, SD. Burial will be in St. Leo Catholic Cemetery, Tyndall.

Lorraine was born to Joseph and Millie (Rysavy) Fuchs on a farm near Tyndall, SD. She was baptized in 1939 and had her first communion in 1951 both at St. Leo’s Catholic Church. She attended school in Tyndall, SD, graduating on May 20, 1957. After high school she worked at Hoch Drug Store in Tyndall, SD.

Lorraine was united in marriage to Leonard Gall on May 17, 1960, at St. Leo’s Catholic church in Tyndall, SD. They made their home in Tripp, SD. Together they had 4 children.

Lorraine had various jobs throughout her life. She kept the books and helped run Gall’s Repair, babysat for many years, was coordinator for Meals on Wheels (earning a Super Volunteer award on May 14, 1986, from the state of SD), and worked the overnight shift at the Tripp Good Samaritan nursing home. Lorraine was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Tripp until its closing where she was a member of the Ladies Altar Society.

Family meant so much to Lorraine. One of her greatest joys in life was caring for her grandchildren, Tom, Matt, Katie, and Sophia. She was always available to babysit and would drop everything to take care of them. She made a lot of memories with them. Lorraine enjoyed many trips to Vegas with Leonard, a family vacation to the Black Hills to ride the 1880 train, and music at the Corn Palace with Mel Tillis, Wayne Newton, and Williams and Ree, being some favorites. She loved Sunday matinees with Leonard, watching Chris and Tom drag race, going out for supper and rides in Richard’s red Chevy truck, and shared a love of animals, shopping, talking on the phone, and a special trip to Vegas to see a Barry Manilow concert with Julie.

Lorraine was well known for her love of animals, caring for every stray cat and dog in and out of town. But her favorite pets were her cat, Rufus, and her beloved Pug, Harley.

Lorraine is survived by a daughter, Julie (Kevin) Schoellerman of Sioux Falls; sons, Chris (Vonnie) Gall of Tripp and Richard (Pat) Gall of Tripp; four grandchildren, Tom (Amanda) Gall of Beresford, Matt Buehner of Rapid City, Katie (Travis) Gerlach of Baltic, and Sophia Gall of Tripp; two great-grandchildren, Vera and Leonard Gall of Beresford.

She was proceeded in death by her husband, Leonard; an infant son, David; her two brothers, Joseph and William (Bud); five sisters, Mary Crystal, Margaret Koruschak, Dorothy Fuchs, Mildred Ishmael, and Pat Kostal.

“Blessed is she who believed, for there shall be a fulfillment of those things which were told her from the Lord”, Luke 1:45.  Grandma, my Angel, I know you will guide me always from Heaven above.
