Margaret  Friederich

Margaret Jane Friederich was born on Tuesday, November 17, 1936 to Arnold and Altha (Brenner) Semmler at Delmont, South Dakota. After graduating from Delmont High School she attended Springfield College and attained a teaching certificate in 1954. On January 14, 1955, she was united in marriage to Wallace Friederich at the First Lutheran Church in Mitchell. For 4 years, Margaret taught at a one-room country school. She later worked as a dietary aide at the Good Samaritan Center of Tripp for 22 years. Margaret loved to write poetry and truly enjoyed preparing the Tripp GSC newsletter as the editor from 1993 to the present. She spent much of her time caring for her garden and yard and baking tasty treats, such as kuchen and peanut sticks, for her grandchildren. The church was important to Margaret.  Throughout the years, she helped in many capacities; as a Sunday school teacher, member of the church choir, and served as President, Secretary, and Committee member of the Women’s Guild over the past fifty-six years. She also served as a United Church of Christ delegate, as the Dean at Placerville Church Camp, and as a 14 year member of the West Unit Cancer Society.
After a three year battle with colon cancer, Margaret died on Monday, January 27, 2014 at the Firesteel Healthcare Center in Mitchell. She had attained the age of 77 years, 2 months, and 10 days.
Margaret is survived by her five children: Timothy Friederich, Terri (Rick) Mayer, Teresa (Aaron) Berndt, Thomas Friederich, and James (Peggy) Lippert; ten grandchildren: Eric (Mandy) Cuka, Brandi (Eric) Brintnall, Brooks (Lindsey) Friederich, Brittany (Cody) Tolvstad, Tyrese Friederich, Javon Friederich, Bailey Berndt, Jacob Lippert, Megan Lippert, and Austin Lippert; two great-grandchildren: Rylee Elizabeth Brintnall and Brayden James Brintnall; two brothers: Melvin (Lolly) Semmler and Clinton (Sherry) Semmler; two sisters: Sylvia (Dennis) Kunz and Sandra (Ron) Ruml; and one brother-in-law: Harold Bietz.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Arnold and Altha Semmler, sister Norma Bietz, and daughter-in-law Kathy Friederich.

I saw the obituary right after the funeral but only took the time for the photo gallery showing until today, I loved seeing the pictures of my Aunt Margaret. Great tribute to her life and there were so many pics I had never seen before. Loved it.

Tom and family - Our thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time. While it is important to mourn and grieve, I think it is also important to remember the good times and the good memories. I know that I have my fair share from going up in Tripp and hanging out with Tom. Margaret was a very special lady and one who will be sorely missed. Our sympathies, The Haar's John, Karen, Carolyn, Matthew and Andrew

We grieve with you all but know that Margaret is at peace and not in pain anymore. We have been very blessed to know Margaret and her family, as a relative and also a friend. I remember all the poems she wrote for different occasions including Mitch and my anniversary one year. May Jesus enfold all of you in His loving arms as you grieve. Love and hugs from: Priscilla & Mitch; Dan, Kim & Trista; and Nate Klintworth
