Maurina W. Hille died on Friday, August 3rd, 2012 at her residence in Scotland at the age of 91 years, 8 months, and 2 days.
Maurina Wilhelmina (Lange) Hille was born on Wednesday, December 1, 1920 at Crofton, Nebraska to William and Theresa (Lammers) Lange.  She graduated from Crofton High School in 1938 and went on to earn her teaching certificate from Mount Marty College in Yankton, South Dakota. She taught school for 15 years in numerous rural schools and in the Utica and Tyndall public schools, until her marriage in 1954.  She truly loved the years she spent teaching and would often talk about her students.
Maurina was united in marriage to Allen Hille on June 19, 1954 at Crofton Nebraska.  They farmed 9 miles southwest of Scotland for close to 50 years.  They retired from farming in 1992 and moved into Scotland.
Maurina was a fabulous homemaker and a great cook who took pleasure in over-indulging anyone who got near her kitchen.  She raised huge vegetable and flower gardens and canned anything she could get her hands on. She enjoyed doing embroidery, reading, cooking and canning, exercising and dancing.
Maurina was an active member of St. George Catholic Church; singing in the church choir, teaching catechism classes and serving as president of the St. George Altar Society.  She was a member of the Good Samaritan Society Auxiliary of Scotland, the Retired Teachers Association, and the Scotland Historical Society, where she had served as secretary.
Maurina treasured her parents, siblings and her huge extended family.  She had many close friends in the community.  She was the best mother and grandmother that could be imagined.  She was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.
Maurina is survived by her daughter, Marcia Hille, and son-in-law Doug Coates of Portland, Oregon; two grandchildren: Eden and Adrianna Coates of Portland; a brother, Harold Lange of Columbus Nebraska; two sisters: Mabel Heisinger of Tripp SD and Norma VanHeek of Crofton Nebraska; sister-in-law, Virginia Lange of Crofton Nebraska and many nieces, nephews and friends.
In addition to her parents, William and Theresa Lange, she was preceded in death by her husband, Allen, in 2002, a brother, Robert Lange, a sister, Alda Goehring and three nephews, James Goehring, Paul Heisinger and Mark Lange.

Guestbook

Our sympathy to all of you. It was good to get to know you better during these past days. I am glad that I could keep busy giving Maurina the funeral and family dinner that she deserved because she helped with many funerals and dinners at our church. She was a great lady, who we will truly miss. We had many good visits in the past. Her place in the church pew was very empty tonight. I will think of her often in the days to come as I adjust to life without her. She could always be counted on to be there.

Remember your parents very well when we were neighbors on the farm. They will be neighbors that I will never forget. You have our deep sympathy on her passing. She will be missed by a lot of people.

Your mom was my second grade teacher. As the years passed I always thought she never aged. She always looked like she did when I was in second grade. Have many wonderful memories. She was a great lady.

I am so happy I had a chance to visit with Maurina at mom's funeral last March. She was such a nice person and looked so good at that time. She and mom were such good friends and now they can catch up on things once again. My thoughts are with you and your family Marcia. Don Mach

Marcia, Our deepest sympathy goes to you and your family. Your mother was truly a great lady. She always cared about other people and had such a positive attitude. She & my mother were such good friends--from all the years on the farm through their retirement years in town. She will truly be missed! Our thoughts & prayers are with you during this difficult time.

Marcia: I remember oh so well how your family made Diane and I feel at home when we moved to Scotland in the summer of 1970. Since we were from Crofton we were informed by your Mother that we were to be guests for dinner. We had such a great time visiting about all the people that we all knew "back home". The meal was remarkable. You Mother was a delight and the picture of a true lady. I know you will miss her. Take heart in the fact that she is now with your Dad again and they will be so happy to be together once again. We are so sorry for your loss.

Allen and Maurina were very kind and precious neighbors when we lived at Scotland. She usually sent our first Christmas card and told us of her daughter Marcia,son-in-law and children, how proud she was of them and enjoying visiting with them. She will be deeply missed. Our deepest sympathy goes out to all of her family. May God bless you with sufficient strength to deal with the loss. Sorry we can not make it to celebrate her life, and eternal reward, because Cyril had surgery on both of his wrists for carpal tunnel yesterday and is recovering. Cyril and Laverta Mauch

Your mom was my second grade teacher. I used to see her often when I worked in a shop in Tyndall and we enjoyed taking about her students and their families. She was a very special lady and touched many lives.
