Melvin Finck

Melvin Finck, age 90 of Tripp, passed away Friday, March 13, 2026 at the Scotland Good Samaritan Nursing Home. Visitation will be 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., with a 7 p.m. prayer service, Thursday, March 19 at Friedens Reformed Church in Tripp. Funeral service is 1:30 p.m. Friday, March 20 at Friedens Reformed Church. Burial will be at Friedens Reformed Church Cemetery.

Melvin Lee Finck was born to Paul and Lenora (Nusz) Finck November 15, 1935 at the family farm. He attended country grade school through the eighth grade. Then he worked on the family farm. He also helped several neighbors with farm work and would haul gravel for Rueben Hieb.

Melvin joined the United States Army from 1955 to 1957 until he was honorably discharged. Melvin was baptized at Emanuel Reformed Country Church, confirmed at Friedens Reformed Church and later his family joined Friedens Reformed Church in Tripp.

Melvin was united in marriage to Shirley Neth on March 6, 1962. They farmed south of Tripp and had recently celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary.

Melvin loved playing and watching baseball and loved playing pinochle with neighbors, friends and family. He loved his four grandchildren and attending their school activities. He was very proud of them.

Grateful for sharing his life are his wife, Shirley of Tripp; son, David (Shelly) Finck of Tripp; daughter, Nancy (Edwin) Mesman of Springfield; grandchildren Caleb (Toni) Finck, Cara (Wesley) Will, Tim Mesman and Michael (Emily) Mesman and sister, Janet (Duane) Weisser.

Preceding him in death were his parents and brother, LeRoy (Pauline) Finck.
