Noma Jenny Sayler was born April 9, 1933. Noma lived in the Menno vicinity on a farm with her parents, George and Erma Walker. Noma graduated from Menno High School in 1951. Noma married John Sayler on February 14, 1953. Noma and John (Jack) farmed east of Tripp. John also worked at Mitchell, SD in road construction. John retired when he turned 62 when they moved into town in Tripp, SD. Noma also worked part-time as a nurses-aide in Parkston hospital and later worked as a nurses-aide at Good Samaritan Home in Tripp, SD.
Noma was a kind, generous soul and enjoyed weekly ladies’ coffee with her friends. She also had a few hobbies that included hand-stitched quilting and making artificial flowers. She thoughtfully made a hand quilted bedspread for each of her children and grandchildren. Noma also made a fantastic apple pie! Noma loved cooking for the family holiday gatherings and always was willing to open her house to family and friends.
Noma and John Sayler were members of Friedens Reformed Church in Tripp, SD for many years. She also served on the ladies’ guild.
Noma was preceded in death by her parents, George and Erma Walker, her brother, Royce Walker, and twin sister Nona Herboldt and her husband John Sayler. She is survived by her son, Roger Sayler, his wife Lynette Sayler, her daughter, Jeanice Raad, her husband Dewayne Raad, her grandchildren Demetria Glader, her husband Tate Glader, Alyssia Sturm, her husband Ryan Sturm, and Tyler Raad and her great-grandchildren, Aubrey Sturm, Natalie Sturm, Eli Glader, Lily Glader, and Oliver Raad.
Noma went to be with Jesus on February 1, 2026. She was deeply loved and will be missed but the memories of her love and thoughtfulness will live in our hearts forever.
