Norma Peschl, age 105, passed away peacefully, Sunday, November 9, 2025 at Good Samaritan Society, Tyndall. Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, November 17 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Tyndall. Visitation begins at 9:00 a.m. Burial will be at Tyndall Cemetery.
Norma was born July 16, 1920 on a farm south of Avon, Bon Homme County, South Dakota to Arthur G. and Mabel (Oliver) Luke. She completed 1½ years of school at the Drake School in rural Bon Homme County. In 1928 the family moved to a farm southwest of Tyndall. She grew up and attended school in Tyndall. Norma graduated from Tyndall High School in 1938. She attended Southern State Teacher’s College in Springfield, SD for one year, earning her teacher’s certificate. She taught three years in rural schools in Todd and Bon Homme Counties. Norma worked as a deputy in various Bon Homme County offices for 16 years. She then served two terms as Bon Homme County Register of Deeds. She retired on January 1, 1975. In 1941 Norma married Ernest E. Evers. Two children were born of this union. Ernest died February 4, 1970. On August 4, 1973 she married Frank Peschl.
Norma joined St. John’s Lutheran Church in Tyndall in 1949 and was a faithful member there. She taught Sunday School for 20 years, also helping with Bible School. She was an active member of St. John’s LWML. She also belonged to the Circle 2 Ladies Club at Tyndall.
Norma is survived by her son, Roger L. (Connie) Evers of York, NE; her daughter, Mary K. Vanderlinde of Cohasset, MN; step-daughters, Kay Hayden of Plymouth, MN and Theresa Rokusek of Brooklyn Park, MN; step-daughter-in-law, Ginger Peschl of Tyndall; 5 grandchildren, Lisa (Deo) Hoffer, Jean Key, Michael (Tonya) Vanderlinde, Clinton (Danelle) Evers and Chad (Angelina) Vanderlinde; 10 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; 8 step-grandchildren; 13 step-great-grandchildren; 4 step-great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Ernest and Frank; 2 sisters; 3 brothers; step-son, Tom Peschl and step-son-in-law, Tom Hayden.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. John's Lutheran Church, Tyndall.
