Ramona "Mona" Mildred Mueller

February 15, 1933 — August 1, 2019

Ramona “Mona” Mildred Mueller was born on February 15, 1933 to Leonard and Marie (Schaal) Mueller at her grandparents’ home in Tripp, South Dakota. She was baptized into the Christian faith on March 10, 1933 in Tripp and was later confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Tyndall in 1947. She grew up in Tyndall and graduated from Tyndall High School in 1951. For a year, she attended Augustana University in Sioux Falls, South Dakota before completing her degree in education at St. John’s College in Winfield, Kansas. Following graduation, she taught at Trinity Lutheran School in Winfield for a year.
While attending college, she met her future husband, James Lee Mueller. In 1957, they were united in marriage and enjoyed 62 years of Christian ministry together. Her joy in ministry included serving as Sunday school leadership, Lutheran Women’s Missionary League, and Laborers for Christ. Mona was particularly active in the LWML and served as the Chairman of Christian Growth Committee at the national level from 1987 - 1989, President of Rocky Mountain District LWML from 1990-1991, Member of the Nominating Committee at the national level in 1995, and on several South Dakota District LWML committees.
Mona’s greatest joy in life was her family and service to her Savior, Jesus.
Mona passed peacefully into the arms of her Savior Jesus Christ on Thursday, August 1, 2019 at the Good Samaritan Society of Tyndall at the age of 86 years.
She is survived by her loving husband, Rev. James “Jim” Mueller of Yankton, SD; sons: David Mueller of Yankton, Richard (Jill) Mueller of Alliance, NE, and Brian (Gwen) Mueller of Warner Robins, GA; grandchildren: Amanda (Randy) Sharpe, Kimberly (Grant) Furry, and Joshua (Kim) Mueller; great-grandchildren: Ricky Sharpe, Theodore Furry, and Piper Furry; brother Jerry (Audrey) Mueller; nieces Caron (Jim) Russell, Juli (Jim) Gray, and Denese (Chuck) Keener; nephew Todd Buschelman; and numerous cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents and sisters Carol Mueller and Jean (Jack) Buschelman.
