The couple was blessed with four children, two daughters Catherine and Dorothy and two sons Michael and Charles.
Robert loved his farm and the cattle were his joy. Hunting and fishing were the hobbies he truly loved. He treasured the times he spent hunting geese. If asked what he enjoyed most, he would certainly say “goose hunting.” Bob also loved to watch the birds that came to feed near his home. He enjoyed playing cards, Poker with the guys and Pinochle with family and friends. Later in life reading was his greatest pastime.
Robert was a member of St. Leo’s Catholic Church of Tyndall. He was a charter member of the Knights of Columbus of Bon Homme County, receiving an Honorary Life Membership award in 1995. As a Farmers Union member, most of his life, he was very active with the local group. He also spent many years involved with the Isaak Walton League and American Legion. He was also a longtime member of the N.F.O. and served a number of years on the school board for Bambas School Dist. 19.
He was a faithful member of Alcoholic Anonymous since 1981. He attended four International World Conferences in Canada, Seattle, San Diego and Minneapolis. He loved to travel and enjoyed vacations with his wife and friends especially to Hawaii and Alaska.
Robert leaves behind his loving wife of 73 years, Maggie; three children Catherine (Ron) Fystro of Irene, Michael (Julia) Bame of Tyndall and Dorothy (Leonard) Magee of Springfield; daughter-in-law Pat Bame (widow of son Charles); nine grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren and numerous step-grandchildren step-great grandchildren and a sister Delores James.
Preceding him in death are his parents, son Charles 1985, infant sister Mary and brothers Emil, Steve and Edward.
