Robert George Miller

Robert 'Bob' Miller, age 77 died peacefully Sunday, April 14, 2024 at his home in Tripp, SD.

Funeral services will be held 11:30 a.m. Monday, April 22 at First American Lutheran Church in Tripp. Visitation begins at 10 a.m. Interment will be in Grace Hill Cemetery.

 Robert George Miller was born November 22, 1946 to George H. and Doris (Walker) Miller in Wessington Springs, SD. He completed high school and earned his real estate license with a year in college. Bob enlisted with the US Navy in December 31, 1964, serving until December 11, 1967, when he was honorably discharged. During that time he completed 2 tours of duty in Vietnam. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Navy Unit Commendation Ribbon and Air Forces Outstanding Unit Award. Robert married Mary Lynne Gudmunson April 1, 1967 at Mt. Olive Lutheran Church, Santa Monica, California. The couple was blessed with one son, Russell Charles, who was named after Bob’s brother.  

 Bob established his own business, Bob Miller’s Carpet Care Flooring Center, a career he was devoted to for over 50 years. Bob and Mary relocated from San Juan Capistrano to Tripp in 2005. He was a celebrated member of Tonkin Gulf Yacht Club (a tongue-in-cheek nickname for the United States Seventh Fleet during the Vietnam War), First American Lutheran Church and the American Legion. He enjoyed life by simply living and had a great time doing it. 

 Robert is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Russell and Ginger Miller; granddaughter, Hailey Miller; niece, Willow (Jeff) Noyes and many good friends. 

 He is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Lynne; grandparents; parents and brother, Russell Miller.
