Robert Sedlacek

Robert J. Sedlacek, age 88 of Tyndall, died Thursday, October 26, 2023 at Good Samaritan Society - Tyndall.

A memorial service will be held, 10:30 a.m. Monday, October 30 at Goglin Funeral Home in Tyndall, with Lorney Van Gerpen officiating. Visitation begins at 9:30 a.m.

Inurnment at Bon Homme Cemetery will be held at a later date.

Robert Joseph Sedlacek was born August 16, 1935 to Louis William and Clara Lillian (Sykora) Sedlacek at Scotland, SD. He was the oldest of 7 children, growing up on the original Sedlacek homestead at Vodnany, SD. Bob received his 8^th grade diploma from the Tyndall School. Robert joined the military, serving in the Navy from 1954 to 1962. Robert met Arline Bartikowsky at the Czech Days dance hall in 1954. They were engaged for 1 year, before marrying May 24, 1956 at St. Leo Catholic Church in Tyndall. Robert and Arline worked side by side, raising five children, while working the farm. They bought the current acreage in 1972.

Robert was a lifelong farmer, with a strong work ethic, who worked dairy cows while raising cows, pigs, chickens, geese, corn, soybeans, alfalfa and wheat. He took several side jobs over the years, including manning the corn filling station in Tabor, ground corn for cattle, drove truck for Springfield and delivered newspapers for 25 years.

Robert’s devout Christian faith made him the likeable, kind, modest man that he was. His dedication to his wife was to be admired. He liked polka music and listening to Arline play guitar.

Robert is survived by his wife of 67 years, Arline; children, Nancy (Mike) Brewer, Gary (Heidi) Sedlacek, Jim Sedlacek, Shelly (Jacque) Humpal and Julie Marchese; grandchildren, Jacki (Matt) Rector, Adam Brewer, Eric Brewer, Katie (Ben) Jackson, Jessica (Casey) Luke, Brandon Sedlacek, Jamie Ridgway, Jenn (Sam) Knoll, Caylor Benson, Shannon Sedlacek, Jaden Sedlacek, Laci Highland, Charlie Marchese and Nick Marchese; several great-grandchildren; siblings, Louis Sedlacek Jr., Richard Sedlacek, Joseph Sedlacek, Irene (Sedlacek) Reiner and Charlene (Sedlacek) Pietz.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Clara Sedlacek; sister, Emily (Mudloff) Sedlacek and grandkids, Stacey Humpal, Jordan and Issac Sedlacek.
