Verna Marie Mortensen

Verna Marie Mortensen, age 92, long time resident of Mitchell, SD, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 14, 2019, at the Good Samaritan Nursing Home, Scotland, SD. Born March 11 1927, in Tacoma, Washington. Verna moved to Mitchell in 1962 with then husband Charles (Sarge) Mortensen. She was active at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church and was a past president of the American Legion ladies auxiliary. She was preceeded in death by her son Lon Mortensen of Gillette, Wyo and is survived by three daughters, Vicki Ware of Alexandria, VA, Wendy Burch of Norfolk, VA and Gail Korfiatis of The Colony Texas. Five grandchildren Shayne, Sarah, Jereme, Ian and Zoe, and 3 great grandchildren Erica, Daniel and Mason.
