Walter Richard Rentsch

Walter (Walt) Rentsch, 63 of Tabor, passed away Sunday, May 31, 2026. His memorial service will be 2 p.m. Friday, June 5 at Goglin Funeral Home in Yankton, SD. Visitation begins at noon at the funeral home.

Walter Richard Rentsch was born July 16, 1962 to Richard and Doris (McCall) Rentsch in Spencer, Iowa. He was a 1981 graduate of Sioux Rapids High School. Walt continued his education at Iowa State where he received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Agronomy. He had a successful career as an agronomist.

Walt married Teresa Brewer October 30, 2010 in Yankton. Together they made their home in Tabor where Walt was a volunteer firefighter. He also was a member of Toast Masters.

In his free time, Walt enjoyed wood working, fishing, gardening, watching football, darts, golfing and baseball.

Walt is survived by his loving wife of 15 years, Teresa Rentsch; his children, Adam Rentsch (Melissa), Hannah Rentsch, Sarah Rentsch, Kayla Odom, and Sarah Hidinger (Justin); his cherished grandchildren, Olivia, Aiden, Alek, Rylan, Anya, Ayven, Lydia, and Jaxson; his sister, Karen Roe (Scott); and his faithful furry companion, Lady.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Doris Rentsch; father, Richard Rentsch and brother, Bill Rentsch.
